The longest table may not have been the longest table we have ever had but size isn't everything.
We had a very relaxing evening with everyone supplying and cooking their own meat and I supplied the salads (except the coleslaw I found in the cool room afterwords).
This is certainly something we can put on the calendar for the future.
Thanks everyone for such a fun night.
As you might know, 16th - 24th of August is Queensland Seniors Week. We applied for a grant from COTA to put on a free first aid course in the Camp Kitchen. Terry Urquhart from Rescue 1, provided an informative course backed up with experience as a paramedic. Morning Tea, Lunch and drinks were provided by Dunk Island View Caravan Park with Wongaling Beach providing beautiful views as background.
George's Uncle Pete came for a flying visit and first day out caught this magnificent yellow fin tuna. First one this season in the park unless someone isn't telling.
The tuna was divided up among some of the enthusiastic cooks around the park and became, smoked, shashimi, marinated and grilled, in fact anyway it can be eaten. word has it, that it doesn't matter with a fish like this. It's all good.
Where was my invitation?
Sunday's Sausage Sizzle was another success for charity. As you might know Dunk Island View Caravan Park is Pet Friendly so we are happy that we were able to raise $110 for the RSPCA.
Taking advantage of the nice weather on the weekend, Mark was able to grab this nice Crayfish for dinner.
I'm thinking that it should be sauteed in garlic and butter and served with a nice white wine. Yummy!
Here we can see our youngest fisherman, Mick's son Victor Madden, with his catch from the weekend. A nice pair of Mackerel tops his day off perfectly.
What we don't see is that he caught them both at the same time on a pair of tangled lines. Skill and determination let him bring them in with no problems.
The Owners of Dunk Island View Caravan Park would like to extend a very warm welcome Sue Van Wessem and Shaun Lambert who have recently taken over the management of the park. Sue and Shaun will be posting updates from time to time on this page. This is the place to find out what's been going on and what exciting things we have coming up...
