On the 18th of August each year we commemorate Vietnam Veterans Day which is the anniversary of the battle of Long Tan in 1966. This year there was a great turn-out of former and current members of the ADF.
Here are some photos of the day Yesterday we installed two new washer dryers. The significance of this they are are completely cashless system.
The washer/dryers are simple to operate and can be accessed two ways: 1. Via the Tangerpay Kiosk opposite the machines (preferred access point and easiest to use); or 2. Via scanning the "bar code" on the face of the machine for the washer or dryer and completing the transaction on your phone. Once payment has been received you then make your selection on the washer or dryer and push start. Wash cycles take 35mins for $5 and Drying takes 30 mins for $5 The owners of Dunk Island View Caravan Park would like to welcome Claire and Aaron Medley as the new park managers. Claire and Aaron have a young son Jack and Harry a golden retriever labrador.
Claire and Aaron have a vast amount of experience and arrived from Hervey Bay in July. The winter whale migration is underway and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the pods. The weather is beautiful at the moment and conditions are perfect for viewing.
The pods of whales travel along the coastline and can be seen frolicking around the local islands and reefs. Keep track of Migaloo, the famous white whale, at the following website. http://migaloo.com.au/ The Owners and Staff would like to announce the arrival of our new park managers, David and Robyn Boorman.
David and Robyn are Queensland born and bred and have been working in Victoria for the last year or so, but have desperately been trying to return to Queensland, their home state. Well they have arrived and hit the ground running, learning ropes of the way we do business and putting their own personal touch to the Parks operation. To all our "regulars", I am sure you will find David and Robyn most welcoming. Kind regards, John and Anne Mackerel season has started with a vengeance. Two of our guests put in a great effort the other day off Wongaling Beach. Well done boys.
Sal Badcock our artist in residence has been creating a beautiful mural of the Great Barrier Reef in our camp kitchen. It really is a beautiful piece of work for all to see. If your in the area, drop by and have a look.
