Look out for us in this month's Pakmag!

Pakmag have reviewed our park! You can pick up the March edition in Cairns, Townsville and Mackay shopping centres... which is obviously bloody useless for those of you (=50% of our guests) who live in WA, SA, VIC and NSW (and the three people who live in NT, ACT or Tasmania). So here it is in online form. Click here to enter the competition: http://pakmag.com.au/pakmag-competitions/win-a-2-night-stay-mission-beach

Looks like we might have to order a box of Croc Repellent Bat-spray!* Thanks to Dave Christian for sending this in. Original story here: http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/surfing-4m-croc-closes-broomes-cable-beach/story-fnhocxo3-1226836741160

* Another (sigh) nod to the 1966 Batman film starring Adam West.

Cane toads in the spotlight

24/2/2014

Hypothetically speaking, let's say you were to line up five cane toads on golf tees and then take a swing at each of them in turn, if the probability of killing each cane toad is 20% then what is the probability that you will kill at least one of them? The first correct answer will win you 50% off one night's accommodation (caravans and camping only) but all incorrect answers will double your first night's stay. Good luck campers!

* Competition open to Australian residents only. Animal rights activists, please note the use of the word "hypothetically". Around here we don't hit cane toads with golf clubs... We use much more humane methods which have a distinctly higher probably of killing them first go. Therefore, we have very few semi-crippled cane toads limping around the place  annoying our guests.

It's incredible what the new gardener has managed to achieve within his first few days on the job. Go Steve and your young padewan.

What did the Cyclone say to the other Cyclone?
I have my eye on you.

Did you hear about the Cyclone who fell in love with another Cyclone?
They had a whirlwind romance.

What did one ocean say to the other?
Nothing, it just waved.

Maybe we should get back to renovating the park??

Work continues to be done around the park during the quiet season.  Lovely new garden beds have been built at the rear of the units. Thanks Steve! You can see him in the background on the Dingo if you look close enough.

With the sounds of monsoon rain belting in the background... 16 year old Vaine and 14 year old Paige helped us wile away a very relaxing Sunday afternoon...

Feeding Time At The Zoo

Unlike the zookeepers in Copenhagen we prefer to keep our animals (=Baby James) alive. Today was his first ever taste of solid food, which involved eating a teaspoon of runny rice. Most of which he spat back out.

Ninney Rise

The grand 1960s home of John Busst (the gentleman who quietly led the campaign to declare the Great Barrier Reef a national park, thereby preventing large-scale oil mining on the reef), was opened to the public in a rare event yesterday.
Friends of Ninney Rise are campaigning to raise money to save the house and continue its renovation.
