Apparently the Tinnie Shack in Mission Beach is offering a prize (possibly a filleting table if we've heard correctly) to the caravan park which brings in the most fish this season. Rather than wait until they kick things off officially we've decided to start keeping a visual record - every time someone in our park catches a fish we will post a photograph of them with said fish in our Fishing Gallery. We won't go overboard (pun intended) and post a photo of every single fish in case people go out and catch a hundred in one day, but we will take a note in case there is some sort of dead heat scenario.
The sun continues to shine and people continue to arrive. We're pleased to say that due to popular demand almost every site has sold out for the weekend. Now it's time to sit back, relax and enjoy some delicious fish & chips with a glass of white wine. Here are a few snaps of our happy campers already doing just that.
We saw this and thought of the caravanners. In "Camping Manager 2012” you have the opportunity to build and manage your own vacation paradise. Keep your guests happy and you could earn a fortune! And we have lots of those. Including the one which resulted in the formal designation of the camping area, hitherto neglected by everyone. But we love campers, and feel they deserve to have their own area. So now they do.
Our solar team from Naked Energy and Steve Harle's Electrical flicked the switch on the solar system this morning, and not long afterwards the meter reading on inverter 1 showed 8.5kWs of power generated. When we checked the meters again (at 2.45pm) the inverters were showing 28kWs and 27kWs! :)
The park upgrades continue apace, this time with the concreting around the laundry and shed. Thankfully none of our resident dogs decided to leave permanent paw prints in the wet cement, nor did they chase any poor wallabies through it.
The first craft group meeting of the season took place in the camp kitchen this morning, and future meetings are scheduled for every Tuesday from 10am. The current project involves making bean bags for the cornhole game we're in the middle of building. Everyone (=Bruce) is really excited, and hoping that it'll be finished within the next week so that everyone (=the caravanners) has time to practise for the inaugural Dunk Island View cornhole and bocce tournament on the 6th of July. And here are the ladies of Team Craft 2013...
Willyweather.com.au kept telling us all day yesterday that we were experiencing uninterrupted sunshine, when in actual fact we had almost 100% cloud cover. But right when the skies needed to clear up they did, so we headed down to the beach to witness Supermoon 2013. The night before there were fireworks on Dunk Island for a wedding, and those were cool, but Supermoon was pretty cool too.
160 new solar panels on the units roofs. Check.
30+ kilowatts of power to help reduce our electricity bills. Check. Doing everything we can to make Dunk Island View Caravan Park the greenest caravan park in Australia. You can count on it. |
AuthorThe Owners of Dunk Island View Caravan Park would like to extend a very warm welcome Claire ad Aaron Medley who have recently taken over the management of the park. Claire and Aaron will be posting updates from time to time on this page. This is the place to find out what's been going on and what exciting things we have coming up... Categories
