We probably should've done the accounting last week when the weather wasn't so flippin' amazing! Nevermind. The end is in sight...

From today the old jetty will be systematically dismantled with the new cyclone proof version on the right taking its place. For all the details check with Ian Flatters in site 62. He has spoken to the on site builders and has all the goss. Thanks to his neighbours the Wrights in site 63 for the photo.

Paris, ils t'aiment deja

29/7/2013

It was a tightly fought contest with a dramatic late surge from Paris on the final day to pip Sunday at the finish. We had prize giving at the sausage sizzle yesterday, but unfortunately Chris Howell and Chris Macfarlane (who have both been taking the dog show too seriously, although we like that) were on a male bonding trip to Cape York.

The dog voting ends soon

Early exit polls suggest Sunday will win this one, closely followed by peoples' favourite Paris, with Marla and Georgie tied for third. But voting doesn't end until midnight tonight so if you haven't yet selected your favourite then head over to the gallery of these little miscreants by clicking here. Don't forget the result and the prize giving will take place tomorrow in the camp kitchen at the Every Second Sunday Sausage Sizzle @ 6pm.

And here are a few chosen quotes from the voters, where it appears Paris has the momentum going into the final stretch...
Friend: Sunday, Every mans best friend.
Dave: This little guy is so well loved by all who live in the neighbourhood and we need a champion in our midst at PG. Go Paris.
The Dears: We really want Paris to do well in this poll, because he is such a gorgeous boy he deserves to win.
Shirley: Paris, such a little dear, well know in our neighbourhood.
Ian Borlase: Paris is a beautiful dog, well known for her aerobic feats.
LBridgeman: Paris has such a beautiful old face. Lots of love and wisdom from this pooch. From an Admirer.

There is a solo art exhibition by Sal Badcock starting this Saturday at Mission Arts. If we had the time we would go, so we're going to have to leave it up to others to go out and do a bit of cultural learning and appreciation. Click the picture below to find out more and see what else is going on at the art centre.

Carry on camping

Here is the camping area doing what it does best, being full of tents.
Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson were going camping. They pitched their tent under the stars and went to sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night Holmes woke Watson up and said: "Watson, look up at the sky, and tell me what you see." Watson replied: "I see millions and millions of stars." Holmes said: "And what do you deduce from that?" Watson replied: "Well,
if there are millions of stars, and if even a few of those have planets, it’s quite likely there are some planets like Earth out there. And if there are a few planets like Earth out there, there might also be life." And Holmes said: "Watson, you idiot, it means that somebody stole our tent."

School's in!

We are delighted to welcome 107 students from Kirwan State High School near Townsville to the park for two nights. The camping area is for the girls, beachfront is for the boys and the middle of the park is for the crowd. And it looks like we could be the umpires...

Penny's Poetry

24/7/2013

There was a young man from the North
Who, keen for adventure set forth
With the sun and the sea
How hard could it be
To show what a van park was worth.

The young man could figure the odds
And knew how to hire a few bods
But found himself digging
Plus mowing and weeding the sods.

The patrons were interested mind
Hands in their pockets but kind
With the sun and the rain
Things are hard to maintain
How could tourism be such a grind.

But if one is fit and still young
Fresh air work can even be fun
A scene change is nice
There’s no snow and ice
As they say nothing ventured naught won.
