Records broken again!

Once again a record roast week!
Merris, our resident roast queen is away at the Commonwealth Games (watching not competing) so Lyndel took on the task. 53 Roasts and then her and Mick had to go down to the resort to buy a substandard roast. What! No roast veggies!
Made Lyndel feel good about her own offerings.

We had a new chef this week for our fortnightly sausage sizzle.
Mick fired up the BBQ with Steve taking on the 2nd wave with his signature beer flavoured onions.
The proceeds this week went to Tully Hospital.

Marlin Fishing? Yes Please!

With the weather being perfect recently, some of the park guests have been having a ball on the water fishing.

Spanish Mackerel as well as Doggy Mackerel have been in good supply around Dunk Island and the local reefs.
This time of year is perfect for pelagics as they migrate up the coast to the warmer water during the winter spawning.

Doug is on the job here!

The ocean can be a funny thing. Just when you think its all done for the day is when it can get interesting!
When pulling up his lines at the end of the day, this Doug Morton was suprised with a long battle!

1 Hour later and we have an example of one of the best fighting fish in the ocean. The Marlin was released to fight another day so next time it could be you on the end of the rod! All of these fish have been caught in the waters around Dunk Island and other local fishing spots.

Graeme Smart Headlines the Sunday Sausage Sizzle and Record Monday Roast Night

Sunday night saw us having our Sausage Sizzle again for the Park Residents with an extra special treat. Graeme Smart was on hand playing his wonderful live music for all in the camp kitchen! Residents were serenaded with classic songs from the 50's through 80's and a great time was had by all.

We also raised $90 to go towards cancer research from the generous donations of the residents!

Monday Night saw our famous lamb roast reach another milestone with a record of 40 dinners sold out just after lunchtime. To avoid disappointment we recommend booking early!

Nancy and Becki take the Ice Challenge!

THE PURPOSE OF THE ICE CHALLENGE:
"The DUMPING of the icewater while your feet is submerged is to mimic the effects of CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENTS! The shock you feel when the water & ice is being drenched on you, the shivering cold of it all is exactly what one who has CANCER that goes through Chemotherapy feels..Every treatment feels exactly what the people who ACCEPTED to do the ice challenge feels"

Nancy and Becki have raised over $300 that will be donated to the Cancer Foundation of their choice. Many thanks go to our guests and visitors who have helped out this great cause!

Super Sunday Sausage Sizzle!

Sunday night saw the park have its first Sausage sizzle of the Season.
Chef Mick was on hand to keep the hungry patrons at bay with Chef Ian busy on the other BBQ ensuring no one missed out.
Thank you to Maitre'd Mario for handling the monies of the evening.

Congratulations go to the Lions Club for being the winning charity for the night. They will be receiving $71 from the evening.
