We headed off at 9.30am this morning in perfect conditions. Stevie Ackerman and Peter Newland headed up the support team in their kayaks, along with John "Digger" Parsons at the tiller in his tinnie (just in case things got a little spicy with the aquatic life). An hour and a half, and 5.7km later, three of us were standing on Dunk Island high fiving, while John was in the middle of the crossing fixing a broken fuel line. Anyway, Bruce got a lift back to the mainland in the water taxi, and Nancy and Fozzy even threw in a free shower and towel. Thanks guys! And a massive thank you to everyone who turned out on the beach to see us off. Your support was amazing, and made sure there was no way of ducking out at the last minute. We can confirm that no sharks or crocs were sighted on the trip, just beautiful, clear, blue water all the way (which Megan is particularly happy about because it means her unborn child's father didn't end up as a human sushi roll). On a final note, we are grateful to Peter for providing an invoice for his support services, and for the generous $2.00 discount because John's tinnie broke down.
